THE BASICS OF QUALITATIVE FIT TESTING
Qualitative Fit Testing (QLFT) checks how good a respirators seal is by exposing the wearer to a test agent. If they CANNOT taste it, they pass. It can only be used on half-face masks, such as:
- APR: air-purifying respirators
- FFR: filtering facepiece respirator
- EHMR: elastomeric half-mask respirator
- PFR: particulate filtering respirators
- N (not resistant to oil) 95, 99, 100
- R (somewhat resistant to oil) 95, 99, 100
- P (strongly resistant to oil) 95, 99, 100
- HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air)
For full-face masks, you need to do Quantitative Respirator Fit Testing.

2. Conduct online medical evaluations: Medical evaluations are required before fit testing. We offer them online to streamline the process.
3. Complete the fit tests: We walk testers through the OSHA-outlined exercises. If they DO NOT taste the test agent, they pass.
4. Results are delivered to you in real-time: Includes mask type, tester name, pass/fail, and a fit test certificate for every employee who passes.
