Typical hearing screenings, also called audiometric screenings or audiometer hearing screenings, are usually a simple pass/fail because they only measure someone’s basic ability to hear. Due to their basic nature, audiometric screenings provide minimal detail, which isn’t ideal for a hearing conservation program. Comparatively, audiologic testing provides a comprehensive assessment of baseline hearing and detects any potential hearing loss, crucial for meeting OSHA compliance standards and occupational hearing conservation best practices.
